New Teacher Induction Program

The CDSBEO New Teacher Induction Program is designed
to meet some of the unique needs of first and second year teachers
and reaps rewards for everyone - mentees, mentors, colleagues, and
students! Both aspects of the program provide for a
celebration of accomplishments, a recognition of growth, and a true
affirmation of all its participants.

Professional Development
Sessions
First year teachers are invited to participate in various
workshops. Some topics
may include: |
 |
- Preparing for the Start of the
Year
- Planning and Organization
- Classroom Management
- Assessment, Evaluation, and
Reporting
- Effective Communication
|
|
Mentorship
- Teachers with less than two years teaching experience may be
paired up with an experienced teacher mentor who will provide
support and guidance. The nature of the mentoring is as unique
as the two teachers involved. Participants in the mentorship
program attend board-organized events held periodically during the
school year. |
