Arts

At St. Francis we have a thriving arts community. From our music to our drama to our art St. Francis is one of the most arts oriented high schools in Prescott-Russell.

MUSIC:

Many thanks to all the staff, parents, students, neighbours and friends who attending the Winter Concert! All the senior band members really appreciated your enthusiastic response and continued support! We raised over $2000.00 for the music program!

Mr. Pankiewicz is looking forward to meeting the newest members of our music program in Grade 9. There are almost 70 of them joining our extensive musical family this year!

Mr. Pankiewicz is also looking forward to teaching the jazz/rock course. This smaller band is made up of senior concert band members and will be performing in various venues in the school community during the second semester.

Mr. Larocque would like to give a warm welcome to the members of his vocal class. They will also be in numerous performance and are joining the jazz/rock class and the Grade 9's in the Summer Concert in June.

ART:

The art department is already in full swing with several "decorating projects" underway. Senior art students have already planned and created monthly layouts for the school-wide calendar and are currently working on custom art for many members of staff. Other upcoming projects include re-painting the mural in the 7/8 wing, painting a mural for Mr. Briere's classroom, and creating inspirational art for display around the school.

The art club is also getting up running and takes place on Wednesdays. Art club is available for all students from grade 7-12 and is a place to pursue your own artistic interests without the pressure of "grades."

The art department is also running an extracurricular Yearbook Club this year which also meets on Wednesday's at lunch.

Watch for the Art fundraisers that will be taking place throughout the school year in an effort to purchase a digital video camera for the school.

See Ms. LeClair for any questions or comments.
