Lenten Fundraiser at St. Gregory Benefits Classroom Project in Nicaragua

Students at St. Gregory’s Catholic School in Carleton Place, took part in a Lenten challenge this spring season which saw each student helping to raise money to build a classroom in Nicaragua with SchoolBOX (a local registered Canadian charity based in Almonte). Each student was challenged to bring in $5 and add a “brick” to the new classroom.

Matt Smart, a high school student at Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Stittsville made an amazing presentation to students to kick off the fundraising challenge, and proceeds were donated to the Matt’s Dream Classroom Fund.

In total, the school raised over $1800, surpassing their goal of $1,500, with more donations still coming in.
