Poetry in Voice 2014 at St. Joseph’s CSS in Cornwall

St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School is looking forward to the third annual Poetry In Voice competition, to be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014.  Poetry In Voice is a national event which was founded by Scott Griffin in order to revive poetry recitation and public speaking.  It is a most worthwhile activity!

On Thursday, February 27, participants, representing senior language classes, will recite two poems  of their choosing from a wide variety available on the Poetry In Voice website.  Students are able to compete in English only, French only, or Bilingual categories.  The event will be judged by Superintendent Charlotte Rouleau, Principal John Cameron, Steve Perry and Paula Wheeler.  Recitations are judged on accuracy and performance.  It is always impressive to see the skill, courage, and confidence of the participants.

Successful students will send a video of their recitations to the online competition.  Winners at that level will then travel to the National Competition held in Vancouver on May 8 and 9.
