We give thanks to God for the life of and papacy of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, who passed away on Easter Monday, within the Easter Octave, a time we observe following Easter Sunday and the promise of the Resurrection. 

We join with millions of Catholics and non-Catholics who were inspired by Francis’ leadership, a leadership that was distinguished by deep humility, a preferential option for the poor and the marginalized, and a focus on a listening Church. 

Today and throughout this period of mourning, we hold Pope Francis in prayer and thanksgiving. He was a faithful servant we were blessed to call our Pope who now looks upon the face of God.
