Kaajuk Kablalik Receives the King Charles III Coronation Medal

Kaajuk Kablalik, originally from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, is an accomplished multidisciplinary artist and a dedicated advocate for the Ontario Inuit community. As an Indigenous Student Graduation Coach at the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO), Kaajuk supports Indigenous students in achieving academic success, while also promoting cultural understanding and awareness.
Kaajuk’s art is deeply rooted in his Inuit heritage, incorporating natural materials like ivory, baleen, muskox horn, and walrus whiskers. His works reflect *inuusiq*—the Inuit way of life—and showcase the rich cultural traditions of his people. Beyond his artistic achievements, Kaajuk is known for his volunteer work, providing invaluable support to Inuit-specific programs and services in Ontario, ensuring that Inuit culture remains strong within urban communities.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Ontario Inuit community through both art and volunteerism, Kaajuk was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal. The medal was presented by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Edith Dumont, in a ceremony held on May 6, honouring individuals who have made a meaningful impact on their communities.

Congratulations to Kaajuk for this well-deserved recognition. His dedication, artistry, and commitment to supporting others continue to inspire those around him.
