At School Mental Health Ontario, we know that parents and caregivers play a vital role in supporting children’s mental health and well-being. That’s why the By Your Side Parent & Caregiver Resource Hub has been created — to offer practical, evidence-informed supports that families can use at home and in partnership with schools.
The resource hub brings together a wide range of learning tools and information on topics such as:
- Understanding mental health – what it means, how to take care of our mental health, and how to notice early signs of concern.
- Mental health at home – tips for building strong relationships, managing stress, and engaging in fun, supportive activities.
- Mental health at school – helping your child navigate school challenges, build relationships, and understand available school supports.
- Stress and anxiety management, substance use prevention, digital technology navigation, and reaching out for help.
By Your Side also features videos, downloadable info sheets, webinars, and blog articles tailored to suit real families’ needs and schedules. You can find content on topics like seasonal stress, bullying awareness, and back-to-school routines.
Importantly, the hub was co-designed with parents and caregivers, ensuring resources are accessible, relevant, and respectful of diverse experiences. The initiative reflects extensive consultation and collaboration with families and community partners across Ontario.
Whether you’re looking for practical strategies to support your child’s well-being or tools to strengthen your family’s mental health conversations, By Your Side offers trusted resources to help you along the way.
