CDSBEO Students Explore Entrepreneurship Through PowerPlay

Students from six schools across the CDSBEO recently took part in the PowerPlay Young Entrepreneurs program, including participants from St. Joseph Catholic Secondary School, Notre Dame Catholic High School, St. Andrew’s Catholic School, St. Mary Catholic School (Chesterville), St. Mother Teresa Catholic School, and St. Peter Catholic School.
For six to eight weeks, students in Grades 6 through 8 explored what it takes to start and run a business. Through the PowerPlay program, they developed business ideas, created products, planned budgets, designed marketing materials, and prepared for sales events within their schools.
With support from their teachers, students took the lead throughout the process. They worked through challenges, made decisions, collaborated with classmates, and gained valuable experience by bringing their ideas to life.
The program concluded with school showcases where students had the opportunity to sell their products to classmates, staff, families, and community members. These events highlighted the creativity, effort, and problem-solving skills students developed throughout the program.

In addition to learning about entrepreneurship, students had the opportunity to give back. A portion of the proceeds from the student businesses was donated to charities and causes chosen by the students.
Congratulations to all of the students who participated and to the teachers who supported them throughout the program. Their hard work, creativity, and commitment helped make the experience a big success.
