CDSBEO’s First Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk Language) Course

Tekonnonhwara’:tons Wahskwe’:ni/Congratulations to the Grade 9 Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk Language) students who completed the first-ever Mohawk Language course offered by the CDSBEO. This historic milestone represents more than an academic achievement, it celebrates culture, heritage, and community connection.
The CDSBEO is pleased to share that this course will be offered again in the 2026–2027 school year at both St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School and Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School.
This achievement was made possible through the Educational Service Agreement with the Akwesasne Mohawk Board of Education, the support of St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School Indigenous Student Advisor Jennifer Boots, the CDSBEO Indigenous Education Team, and the dedication of Kanien’kehá:ka teacher Wathahiiostha (Theresa) Cook, whose knowledge and commitment helped bring this course to life.
