Celebrating World Education Support Personnel Day!

Saturday, May 16 is World Education Support Personnel Day. On this day, we recognize and celebrate the essential contributions of education support staff who play a vital role in fostering safe, welcoming, and thriving learning environments across the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario.

In recognition of this important day, we highlight Stephanie Nelson, Indigenous Graduation Coach at CDSBEO. Stephanie supports Indigenous students along their educational journeys, helping to remove barriers, build connections, and nurture pathways to success grounded in culture, identity, and belonging.

Known for her commitment, compassion, and advocacy, Stephanie makes a meaningful difference in the lives of students and families. She is an exceptional ally who isn’t afraid to ask the challenging questions that promote change. Through her work, she uplifts Indigenous voices and perspectives, paving the way for a more inclusive future for our school communities. Her work reflects a deep dedication to student well-being and achievement.

The drive Stephanie has to empower youth is unmatched. She not only uplifts my dreams, but she also helps make them a reality. Without her guidance, I can confidently say I would not be prepared for post secondary education. She has done extensive work to offer me cultural experience as a student living off reserve on different treaty land.

While the contributions of education support personnel often take place behind the scenes, their impact is felt every day in our schools and communities. We thank Stephanie, and all CDSBEO education support staff, for their expertise, care, and the vital role they play in supporting our students and school communities.
