Exploring Trades Through Virtual Reality

Grade 9 TAS10 students at St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School recently stepped into the world of skilled trades using cutting-edge virtual reality simulations: SprayVerse and WeldVR.
These immersive tools allowed students to practise automotive painting and welding techniques in a safe, controlled environment while learning about the automotive refinishing and welding trades. VR training offers several benefits, including increased engagement, reduced material costs, and the ability to learn and make mistakes without real-world consequences.
Students gained valuable hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of potential career paths in the skilled trades — all while having fun exploring new technology.
