Grade 8 Students Explore Future Pathways During Career Launch Week

Earlier this month, Grade 8 students across the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario took part in Career Launch Week (March 2-6), a career exploration experience designed to help students start thinking about their future pathways.
Using the myBlueprint platform, students participated in a series of interactive activities that introduced them to a wide range of careers and industries. The week gave students an opportunity to explore real-world career options, learn about different skills and training paths, and reflect on their own interests and strengths.
Career Launch features more than 25 recorded sessions from employers and organizations across Ontario. In these short sessions, industry professionals share what their jobs look like, the education or training needed, and the many pathways available in their fields. Students can explore careers in areas such as technology, skilled trades, agriculture, business, public safety, and more.
Throughout the week, students completed challenges, watched career sessions, and recorded their learning in their personal Career Launch portfolios within myBlueprint. These reflections help students begin building important career awareness and goal-setting skills as they prepare for high school and beyond.
The activities are flexible and designed to fit into classroom learning, allowing teachers to guide discussions, connect career topics to curriculum, and support students as they explore possibilities for their future.
Career exploration is an important part of helping students understand how their interests and strengths can connect to future opportunities. Experiences like Career Launch encourage curiosity, build confidence, and help students begin thinking about the many paths available to them.
Through initiatives like this, CDSBEO continues to support students as they learn more about themselves, their skills, and the opportunities that lie ahead.
