On December 1st, more than 140 students gathered at the North Grenville Municipal Centre for the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Health Fair 2025. Organized by the CDSBEO Student Success Team, this full-day event was designed to deepen students’ understanding of careers and skills in health, wellness, and community service fields.

Participants selected three sessions from a roster of 11 hands-on workshops, each led by industry professionals representing a wide range of health-related fields. The fair offered students direct exposure to real-world practices in: 

• Infection control 
• Fitness and personal training 
• Stress management 
• Coaching 
• Fire safety and extinguisher training 
• Wrapping and taping 
• Nutrition 
• Customer service 
• Communication skills 
• Animal first aid  
• Feeding techniques 

The event aimed to support students enrolled in SHSM programs by helping them build sector-specific skills, earn valuable certifications, and explore potential career paths in a dynamic, interactive environment. 

“This event gives students a real sense of the breadth of opportunities available in health and wellness,” said organizers. “The hands-on learning and face-to-face connections with professionals truly bring classroom learning to life.” 

The SHSM Health Fair continues to be a highlight in the school year, equipping students with practical knowledge, confidence, and inspiration as they plan their post-secondary journeys.
