St. Mary-St. Cecilia Win Top Five National Finalist in Samsung Canada Solve for Tomorrow Contest

Congratulations to teachers Blair Fitzsimons and Laura Ferguson, along with students from St. Mary-St. Cecilia Catholic School, who have been named as one of five national finalists in the Samsung Canada Solve for Tomorrow contest!

After receiving submissions from across the country, Samsung Canada recently announced five Canadian schools that were selected for their bold, innovative solutions to solve environmental challenges affecting communities, and make a difference in the efforts against climate change.

The St. Mary-St. Cecilia team was selected for their submission which proposed a hydrogen generator suitable for residential and commercial use. The idea supports the everyday shift to sustainable energy sources.

In recognition of their achievement, the school will receive $5,000 towards brand new Samsung technology to support and enhance STEM learning in their classrooms, and to help them continue formulating their project plan. Upon the second round of judging, the grand prize winner will receive $50,000 and be named ‘The School for Tomorrow.’

We wish them luck as they move on to the second round of the contest!
