COVID-19 School Closure and Reopening Notices

As we return to in-person learning on January 17th, the continued spread of the new Omicron variant and self-isolation requirements announced by Ontario Health, may create additional challenges for staffing our schools. Please be aware and continue to closely monitor your email, the school and board social media platforms, and this page for important messaging which will be communicated to families regarding the status of school closures due to staffing shortages.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to prepare for possible school closures if a staffing shortage becomes a reality. Should your school be required to close, parents will be notified as soon as possible. We continue to work diligently to ensure that our schools remain safe and open for in-person learning and know that we will use all resources available to us before making a school closure decision.

In the event of a school closure, students can access the Ministry of Education’s TVO Learn and TFO IDÉLLO, apprendre à la maison portals, remote learning resources on their child’s Teams page, as well as the resources posted to the CDSBEO website at: CDSBEO Distance Learning Resources.

In addition, secondary students can continue to access TVO’s Independent Learning Centre (ILC) Open House and Portes ouvertes pour les cours TVO ILC in French-language, which provide access to 144 Grade 9 to 12 courses. These ILC resources are designed to provide flexible learning opportunities to help students keep up with their learning or deepen their understanding of a specific subject in addition to their regular course timetable.

TVO Mathify provides free, one-on-one online support by Ontario Certified Teachers, to help students improve their math skills. Eurêka is a service available to French-language students and families that provides resources and supports for all subjects, grades 1-12.

We thank you for your understanding and on-going cooperation and support during these challenging times.
