The CDSBEO is proud to celebrate three graduating students who have been recognized through prestigious scholarship programs supported by The Schulich Foundation. 

Matthew Craddock of St. Michael Catholic High School and Ryan Davis of Notre Dame Catholic High School have been awarded Schulich Leader Scholarships, Canada’s most prestigious undergraduate STEM scholarships. 

The two students were selected from among graduating students across the country, placing them among just 100 recipients nationwide. The scholarships recognize exceptional students pursuing post-secondary studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). 

Established by Canadian businessman and philanthropist Seymour Schulich, the Schulich Leader Scholarships are awarded annually to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, leadership, innovation, and community involvement. Each year, 50 engineering scholarships valued at $120,000 and 50 science, technology, or mathematics scholarships valued at $100,000 are awarded to graduating high school students across Canada. 

The selection process is highly competitive. Every high school in Canada may nominate only one graduating student each year, with recipients selected through a national review process. 

Adding to this impressive accomplishment, Fletcher Townend of Notre Dame Catholic High School has been awarded a $40,000 Schulich Builders Scholarship through Algonquin College. The Schulich Builders program supports students pursuing careers in the skilled trades and helps address Ontario’s growing demand for skilled workers. The program awards 120 scholarships annually to students entering eligible skilled trades programs at participating colleges across the province. Recipients are selected based on their work ethic, character, leadership potential, and commitment to the trades. 

Having three CDSBEO students recognized through Schulich Foundation scholarship programs in the same year is a remarkable achievement and reflects the strength of student success pathways across the board, whether pursuing university studies in STEM fields or careers in the skilled trades.
