Lunch & Learn Series for Parents

The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario is pleased to offer parents an opportunity to increase their understanding of common challenges often experienced when trying to support the mental health of children and youth.

During lunch hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the month of July, the following Lunch and Learn sessions will be offered virtually. This year the sessions are a single one hour, stand-alone session that will be offered more than once in hopes that one of the dates will suit your busy summer schedule.


Anxiety

Learn to identify common anxiety symptoms and gain strategies to support your school age child (K – 12) to manage their anxiety and minimize its impact on their decisions and daily life.

The anxiety session will be offered:

  • Tuesday, July 4 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
  • Wednesday, July 12 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
  • Thursday, July 20 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Self-Regulation

Self-regulation is more than just emotional regulation. Learn the important differences and gain strategies that can help you to act as a co-regulator to support the development of your child’s self-regulation skills. It’s relevant to supporting our children at any age or stage of their development.

The self-regulation session will be offered:

  • Wednesday, July 5 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
  • Thursday, July 13 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Cannabis and Vaping Awareness

Developments in brain science have provided insights into how problematic substance use can impact the developing adolescent brain. This presentation will help you understand why it is so important to support youth to delay use of substances and ways you can support them to make informed decisions that can protect their brain health.

The cannabis and vaping awareness session will be offered:

  • Thursday, July 6 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
  • Tuesday, July 18 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Resilience

Resilience refers to our ability to navigate and adapt to challenges. It is correlated with happiness and success and it can be learned. So register today and learn how to bolster your child(ren)’s resilience to support them to face adversity and flourish.

The resilience session will be offered:

  • Tuesday, July 11 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
  • Wednesday, July 19 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
